The I AM Journal: Where Reflection Meets Practice
Jun 02, 2025
Let’s be real, most conversations about behaviour are still stuck in the same old cycle: surface-level fixes, endless lists of “strategies” and a quiet sense of burnout creeping in.
I’ve spent nearly two decades working in classrooms, coaching educators and here’s the thing: behaviour is not only a representation of an unmet need, it shows us what’s going on inside us too. Our feelings, our stories and the state of our nervous system shape how we see and respond to behaviour.
I don’t want to mislead you by promising that this journal will provide the perfect answer or those shiny, Instagram-ready moments. Even the most perfect strategies in themselves are only half the challenge, what really matters is your ability to bring them out with who you are and how you show up. This whole process is about looking inward: at the stories we tell ourselves, the ways our nervous systems keeps us safe and the power we already have to show up differently.
I’m Jason Alexander, co-founder of I AM Education and someone who’s done the dance with regulation and reflection enough to know it’s messy, but worth it! (Think of me as your personal Yoda, flipping words, phrases and stories until something eventually clicks.)
Here in The I AM Journal, I’ll share reflections that go deeper than tips and tricks. Think of it like sitting down together, breathing it out and remembering what matters most.

No lectures.
β
No “do it like this” scripts.
β
Just real insights and invitations to stop outsourcing your power and start owning the stories that shape your practice.
Because in the end, the way we see children is the way they see themselves and that always starts with us.
Thanks for being here.
May your stories hold your power.
